Jianguo Flower Market in Taiwan is a horticultural haven with color and life. This expansive market boasts various plants, flowers, and gardening supplies. From rare orchids to vibrant tulips, the offerings enchant gardening enthusiasts and photographers alike.

The Jade Market is a treasure trove for gemstone enthusiasts. With countless stalls selling jade and semi-precious stones in all shapes and sizes, it’s a delight for jewelry lovers and collectors.

Find pieces ranging from intricate jade carvings to simple yet elegant gemstone jewelry. The market is also a learning ground for those interested in jade’s cultural significance in Taiwanese society.

Artist Alley is an indoor space filled with vendors selling handmade pieces. It’s a must-visit for artists and fans of unique handmade goods.

Converse with the artists, and understand their inspiration and process. Because of this opportunity, it’s an excellent location for art enthusiasts seeking a deeper connection to the local art scene.

What to do in the Jianguo Holiday Flower Market: The One That Sells Plants

Only visit the flower market if you like window shopping and seeing various plants. Because as a tourist, you likely won’t be able to take any of the plants home. You could find souvenirs of charms for gardens, though.

Or you could use this visit to buy gifts for a host, colleague, or a special someone. All the plants are affordable, and vendors don’t jack up the prices.

A couple of vendors sell fresh drinks and sometimes sell popcorn. Otherwise, you’ll need to visit nearby restaurants for food.

Leave the flower market and enter the Jade Market.

What to do in Jianguo Jade Market (The Jade Market)

The Jade market has more than 800 vendors that sells goods like:

  • Gemstones
  • Jade
  • Antiques
  • Accessories
  • Pearls
  • Coral reefs

Jade is the item of choice here. As this is Taiwan’s largest wholesale market with the most variety. Making it the best place to buy jade in Taipei. And most vendors price the jade at a reasonable price (for jade).

Don’t expect to find low-cost souvenirs here.

Why is jade from Taiwan special? It’s considered the home of jade because of the country’s location in the convergent boundary [1].

What to do in Jianguo Artists Corner

The Artists Corner is an excellent place to find hand-made wall art, accessories, knitted items, pottery, and more. Many of the souvenirs are more affordable than the jade market, yet are allowed on planes (unlike the flower market).

There isn’t anything else to do here.

How to Get to Jianguo

Get to the Jianguo markets by taking the Taipei MRT Red line to Da’an Park Station. From there, walk 2 minutes east of the MRT station along Sec. 3 Xinyi Rd. toward Jianguo S. Rd.

If you’re closer and have registered for Taiwan’s bicycle rental service, YouBike, I recommend renting one and riding it toward Jianguo.

Or take any of the buses to the Renai & Jianguo Intersection station. The bus taken will depend on your location.

The Artist’s Corner, Jianguo Holiday Weekend Flower Market, and the Jade Market are all adjacent. Cross through each market to reach the other. Or go around their buildings and cross a series of intersections.
