This guide will help you decide whether it’s worth riding the Miramar Ferris wheel and visiting the connecting mall. Keep reading to find out.
My wife and I recently visited Miramar and I forgot how cool it was. I wrote this piece to convince you of its coolness.
Is the Miramar Ferris Wheel Worth Riding?
Yes, the Miramar Ferris wheel is worth riding. It offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Taipei. Night rides showcase dazzling city lights. Perfect for memorable photos and romantic moments. A must-do experience in Taipei.
My wife and I didn’t have to wait in line on a Sunday evening (when the sun almost set).
If we had chosen the glass-bottom cabin, we would have had to wait 9 minutes. I couldn’t see the benefit of waiting that long for such a small “upgrade.”
The ride is about 16 minutes long. The cabin’s temperature was 66.2 °F / 19 66.2 °C, which is perfect for a hot day. And the sights were fantastic.
There was a lot of construction going on around us. But I still loved the view when looking past that.
There have never been any deaths or injuries associated with the Ferris wheel. The worst situation was in 2015, when strong winds caused the Ferris wheel to halt for 30 minutes, trapping 16 people [1].
All those people were fine in the end.
Tips for Travelers
Here are tips that I recommend for travelers:
- Ride the Ferris wheel when the sun is about to set: The sun won’t shine in your eyes and the view is amazing.
- The “glass bottom” cabins aren’t worth it: They require 9+ minute waits and only give you a view of the Ferris wheel’s moving parts.
- Bring a packable jacket if you’re sensitive to the cold: The rooms inside the cabins can reach 66.2 °F / 19 66.2 °C.
- NOKE (an adjacent mall) has better bathrooms: Come here if you want the best toilets.
- Get a FunPASS if you visit multiple Taipei attractions: You’ll get a free ride on the Ferris wheel.
- If you’re visiting the Ferris wheel first, take the escalator that takes you straight to the top floor.
- Don’t visit on a day with high wind speeds: That could cause issues with the ride.
- Capacity is 6 people: If your family is bigger, you’ll need to take separate cabins.
Miramar Mall is out of the way and best to visit on a separate day from other attractions.
For instance:
I’d bundle destinations along Taipei Metro or the Hop-on Hop-off bus’ Red Lines for one or 2 days. That way, you can get the most bang for your buck without spending too much time on public transportation.
You’ll most likely be staying in downtown Taipei City or somewhere in New Taipei. Both routes require you to transfer to the Taipei Metro Brown Line, which is inconvenient.
In my Taipei 3-Day Itinerary, I recommend that families head there after visiting the Children’s Amusement Park.
If you’re not traveling there as a family, head there toward the end of the day.
Speaking of getting there.
How to Get to the Miramar Shopping Mall
Address | 10491, Taipei City, Zhongshan District, Jingye 3rd Rd, 20號5樓 |
Address (Chinese) | 台北市中山區敬業三路20號 |
The Ferris wheel is on the top floor (5th floor) of the Miramar Paradise Mall. It’s also where you’ll redeem/buy tickets and find other things to do in the Miramar Entertainment Park.

1. MRT:
You could drive and/or hail an Uber or taxi to the Miramar Shopping Mall. Or take the Taipei MRT Brown Line to Jiannan Rd. Station. Upon reaching the station, depart from Exit 2 and turn left on Beian Rd.

You’ll see a giant Ferris wheel on top of a building. Go toward that building.
2. Bus:
It has 3 bus stops:
- Miramar (Lequing): Closest to the mall.
- Miramar (Zhifu): Middle-ground.
- Jingye 3rd Rd. 1: Farthest from the mall.
The following buses will stop at these stations:
21 | 110 | 222 | 247 |
256 | 267 | 286 | 287 |
620 | 646 | 902 | Brown 16 |
Blue 7 | Blue 20 | Blue 26 |
Miramar used to have free shuttle buses that would take you from far MRT stations and drop you off near the mall.
However.
Miramar discontinued these shuttle buses on December 31st, 2023 [2].
And:
The Sightseeing Bus doesn’t have stops anywhere close to Miramar.
3. YouBike: You’ll find 3 YouBike 2.0 docking stations around Miramar. YouBike is Taiwan’s bicycle rental service. Rent a bike from anywhere in Taipei and ride it to Miramar.
Here’s a map that shows the nearest YouBike docks and stations:
4. Car: There’s a huge parking garage underground that usually has plenty of free spots.
If you’re wondering how to rent a car, here’s a guide.
Otherwise, I recommend taking taxis or Ubers. Then you won’t need to worry about parking.
The Uber app works in Taiwan the same as in other countries. Though, you’ll need a Taiwanese phone number.
I recommend downloading FindTaxi and 55688 apps to call for taxis. This also helps ensure your driver speaks English. If that’s something you care about.
Now that you know how to get there. Is there anything else to do?
What to Do Other Than the Ferris Wheel
TL;DR: It’s a shopping mall that’s more-so appealing to escaping the rain or heat. There’s nothing significant for tourists other than the Ferris wheel.
There’s a carousel adjacent to the Ferris wheel and a stage that usually has performances.

Then there’s Tom’s World. This place has a lot of games that your kids could play.
There used to be a bar, but they got rid of it. There’s nowhere that the parents could grab a drink while their kids play now.
Afterward, y’all could go to one of the movie theaters (they have 2).
One of them is an IMAX 3D movie theater (cinema).
The IMAX theater has a 28 m x 21 m dimension screen, making it one of the largest in Asia. And it’ll offer 3D, AURO, and IMAX movies.
One of these theaters has massage chairs. I forgot which.
These are perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to relax.
Otherwise:
There are 2 buildings that you can switch between with a sky bridge.
Both have many clothing and boutique stores. There’s not much to do other than look around.
If you’re hungry, there are plenty of restaurants. I’ll talk about those in a second.
Once you’re bored here, I recommend visiting NOKE. It’s just another mall, but it looks a bit more modern and has a Japanese aesthetic, which I love.

The Tsutaya Bookstore is a great place to find books, relax, and maybe find souvenirs.
Though, I don’t recommend anything specific.
Restaurants to Try
Honestly, there’s nothing special here.
If you have a high budget, check out any of the restaurants in the Luxury Dining Park. There are a lot of high-end restaurants here. And it’s beside the Ferris wheel.

Harajuku Pancake has some fantastic Japanese-style pancakes that are very fluffy.
I highly recommend trying this if you’re not looking for lunch or dinner.

The SAKImoto Bakery in Noke is also popular and a great place to buy bread.
If you’re not in Taipei for long, I’d head back toward downtown Taipei and go to a Din Tai Fung location. Or get street food from a night market.
Or check food blogs and see if there are any special restaurants along the Brown Line.
Anything Worth Buying?
There are no souvenirs to buy at the Miramar Entertainment Park. It’s a shopping center and nothing more.
Here are a few souvenir guides to help you find something to buy:
You may have time to do stuff once you’re done at the mall.
Let’s see what there is.
Where to Go Afterward
As I keep saying, there’s the NOKE mall; otherwise, there are these places:
Destination | Why It’s Special | Time Spent There |
---|---|---|
Jiannan Butterfly Eco-education Park | Watch butterflies for free | >1 hr |
Asia Art Center | Various art exhibitions | 1 – 2 hrs |
Jiantan Temple | One of Taipei’s top 3 temples | 20 min |
Dahu Park | A beautiful park. | 30 – 60 min |

Everything except for Dahu Park is a 5 – 20 minute walk from Miramar.
Dahu requires you to take the Taipei Metro Brown Line to Xihu station, which’ll take around 19 minutes.
It’s a long ride, but if you’re a couple (or a solo traveler) who wants to get away from the city and end your night on a relaxing note, this is the perfect place to do so.
Or you could come here during the day to take the Bailusishan hiking path. It’s a 2.47-mile-long hiking path that’ll take you an hour and 20 minutes to hike. And it’s considered “easy” by hiking sites.
It has some excellent views.
Since Miramar is so out-of-the-way, I’d use that, or Dahu Park, as the last tourist spot to visit at night.
From there, you could head back to your hotel or see what the nightlife is like.
